Box Leagues

Jocelyn SavoieBox leagues are ideal for people who like to play regularly. They are also also an excellent way to meet other frequent players in our network.

Racquet Network box leagues are open to men and women of all levels but they are most popular with competitive players who like to play frequently and keep score.

High Participation Rates

Racquet Network’s play-or-die box leagues are unique. Our active leagues have monthly participation rates of well over 90 percent. League fees are reasonable and work to keep out people who are not genuinely committed to playing regularly.

Racquet Network currently offers box leagues for all racquet sports networks with more than 25 members. Please contact us when there are enough players in your local network to support a box league.

Private Box Leagues

Racquet Network also runs private box leagues like these:

  • Calgary Fire Department Squash Box League

  • Calgary Police Services Squash Box League
  • Please contact us if you want to create a private box league for your club, group, company or institution. We can provide a full season of organization that culminates in a complimentary trophy presentation.

    Box League Structure

The structure of our box leagues ensures that all players eventually arrive in a box with other players who are approximately their equal in skill and fitness.

All new players enter through the bottom box. Therefore it is possible to run into top level players even in the lowest boxes. In most cases, however, the level of play increases as players move toward the top boxes.

    How Does it Work?

There are three players in each box. Each player must play every other player in their box before the end of the month. Points are awarded based the results of each match.

At the end of each month, the player with the most points in each box moves up one box. The player with the fewest points moves down one box. The middle player remains in the same box.

Players who don’t play at least one match are eliminated from the league.

Over time, the boxes sort themselves and all players end up in boxes with other players who are at their skill level.
