Choose Your Activity Level

Racquet Network members can choose the level of activity that best satisfies their needs. Players who wish to be moderately or highly active have the option of registering as league players and participating in a range of organized activities.

Group 1 – Self Serve Players

This is our default group. Every new player who joins Racquet Network is automatically registered as a Group 1 – Self Serve Player.

Group 1 is perfect for do-it-yourself players who like to make their own contacts and organize their own matches. It’s also great for players on a budget.

At this level, registration is free. Activities are independent, unstructured and completely voluntary. Players create their own activities by searching the database and contacting other players by email. Most matches occur on public courts.

Many Self Serve Players are curious about the network but are not yet ready to connect with active players or organized activities. Some are recreational players who are looking for people to hit with. Some are occasional players who are looking for one-off matches at their local public courts.

Activity Level: LOW — Approximately half of the players in this group have completed their profiles. Activity occurs, but the overall level of activity is low. Most players at this level play two or three times a year.

Group 2 – Registered League Players

This is our largest group of active adult players. Activities are supported by our staff and have more structure than they do in Group 1.

All Registered League Players (RLPs) have completed their profiles. Generally speaking, players in this group are enthusiastic, open to meeting new players and are interested in playing regularly.

Registered League Players have the option of joining challenge leagues and playing on ladders. They are also eligible to earn player rewards, join box leagues and participate in tournaments.

Play TennisThanks to the combined purchasing power of our network, Registered League Players also have opportunities to save on lessons, memberships, racquets and accessories through participating manufacturers, retailers, clubs and instructors. Just one purchase typically makes up for the cost of registration.

Activity Level: MODERATE — Most players in this group play two or three times a month. This group of players accounts for about one-third of all network activity.

Please note that not all RLPs choose to participate in leagues or tournaments. Some players choose to play independently in our challenge league system whenever their schedule permits.

    Box League Players

This group features monthly competition through box leagues. Players in this group are very active and form a cohesive social group with strong interpersonal connections.

If you are looking to get involved with a group of intermediate to advanced players who play frequently throughout the year, this is the right group for you.

Registration fees vary by league. Many box leagues are still free, but the most popular leagues now charge modest administration fees ($19.95).

Activity Level: HIGH — Most box league players play twice a week or more. This group of players creates approximately 60 per cent of all network activity and accounts for 80 per cent of all tournament registrations.

Box leagues are ideal for players who want to jump in and connect quickly with other frequent players.
